General Information

Microsoft Box Copy Software-Departmental/Student/Personal Use

Departments, students, faculty and staff are able to purchase Microsoft box copy software. Customers will be limited to one copy of an individual product.

Microsoft Software-Departmental Use

Departments are able to purchase Microsoft licenses at volume discounts. All licenses are perpetual and do not expire. These licenses are for departments only and are not returnable.

Microsoft Software-Student/Personal Use

Students, faculty and staff are able to purchase Microsoft Office at a substantial discount from the MSU Computer Store. Customers will be limited to one copy of an individual product. These licenses are not returnable. Students must show valid ID and must be currently enrolled at MSU. University accounts may not be used to purchase these part numbers.

Windows 7 Pro Upgrade Licenses for Student and Personal Use (32 or 64 bit) will be available as of November 1. Please see the specific price list for part numbers and prices.

Windows 7 Upgrade Licenses will upgrade and transfer settings for users with Vista with SP1 or higher only. All other operating systems will be written over when you install Windows 7. For more information, please visit microsoft.com.

Installation Information

Microsoft Box Copy Software-Departmental/Student/Personal Use: The software comes in a box with everything you need to install and activate the software. Insert the CD and follow the on screen instructions.

Software Assurance

Microsoft Box Copy Software-Departmental/Student/Personal Use: Software Assurance is not available.
Microsoft Software-Departmental Use: Software Assurance may only be purchased along with a new license. All Software Assurance that is purchased after September 12, 2008 will expire on September 30, 2011. At that time, only the Software Assurance portion will need to be renewed. If you have questions, please contact the Site License Coordinator.
Microsoft Software-Student/Personal Use: Software Assurance is not available.

Home Use Provision

Microsoft Box Copy Software-Departmental/Student/Personal Use: A home use provision is not available. Box copy software will license one computer only. Note that with Office for Mac 2008 and Office Home and Student 2007 version for Windows, the box copy can be installed on three computers.
Microsoft Software-Departmental Use: Only Microsoft Office offers a home use provision. For each copy of Microsoft Office you license, the primary user of the computer on or from which the product is run may also run a second copy from either a laptop or desktop computer that he or she owns or leases. The software may be used only for work-related purposes and only during the term of the MSU agreement with Microsoft.
Microsoft Software-Student/Personal Use: A home use provision is not available. Products on this price list will license one computer only.

Media

Microsoft Box Copy Software-Departmental/Student/Personal Use: Media is included with the license.
Microsoft Software-Departmental Use: Media must be purchased separately.
Microsoft Software-Student/Personal Use: Media is included with the license.
